24-hour pet adoption event at Miami Tropical Park

MIAMI – If you live in South Florida and are considering adopting a new pet, Saturday could be your lucky day.

Miami-Dade County Animal Services is hosting its 9th Annual Mega Match-A-Thon Pet Adoption Event.

It started at 11:59 p.m. on Friday and lasts for 24 hours.

The event will be held at Miami’s Tropical Park at 7900 Southwest 40th Street.

More than 300 dogs and cats from the shelter looking for a loving home forever will be at the event ready to make new friends.

“We’re excited to bring our animals from the shelter to the community in the hope of finding them in a caring home,” said Lorna Mejia-Lopez, interim director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services. “Over the years the Mega Match-A-Thon has grown from a pet adoption event to a great pet extravaganza and festival. Match-a-thon is an event we look forward to every year because it allows us to bring hundreds of our pets together with a loving family forever. “
