The Racquet Center in Boca Raton received the Outstanding Facility Award – Boca Raton’s most trusted news source

The Racquet Center in Boca Raton was recognized by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) with the Outstanding Facility Award 2021 in the category Public Courts: Large Tennis Center (11 or more courts). The center is one of only 25 tennis facilities in the United States and its territories recognized by the USTA, the national governing body of tennis and recognized leaders in promoting and developing the growth of the sport in the United States

The annual award recognizes outstanding achievements in the construction and / or renovation of tennis facilities in three categories: public spaces, private institutions and educational institutions. The Racquet Center, formerly known as The Swim & Racquet Club, underwent a major renovation in 2018. The improvements to the facility included an expansion of the existing tennis center, new changing rooms and bathrooms, a professional tennis shop, meeting rooms, covered seating, raised parking spaces and more.

The USTA assessed the award-winning facilities according to the following criteria: overall layout and adaptation to the location; Excellence of the field surface and lights; easy maintenance; Accommodation for players, spectators and press / officials; Aesthetics; Graphics, including the use of signs and landscaping; Amenities such as casual seating for spectators, dining, and social areas; and facility participation in USTA programs.

“On behalf of our great team, I am humble and excited to receive this fantastic award. The Racquet Center brings the community together on a safe and beautiful tennis court. This award is a great testament to the services and facilities the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District and the city provide as they work together for all citizens, “said Michael J. Kalvort, Recreation Services Director, Boca Raton City. “As autumn approaches and the heat subsides, I’d like to invite all of our Boca athletes to visit the Racquet Center, play a match, and keep our hearts healthy.”

The Racquet Center hosts an average of 300 guests per day and features 26 Har Tru courts, tennis clinics, junior programs, ball machines, lessons from USPTA professionals, 24-hour stringing, and night games. Located at 21618 St. Andrews Boulevard, the center is jointly managed by the City of Boca Raton and the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District.
